About the Webmaster

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in social science from Metropolitan State University in Saint Paul. My essay "Finding Historical Place: How Education Develops Students into Citizens" won First Place in Sociologists of Minnesota's 2008 Caroline Rose Undergraduate Paper Competition. "Finding Historical Place" is a study in political and historical sociology; in addition to historical sociology, my studies have focused on identity (especially Queer identity), race and ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, social power, ethnic conflict, the medicalization of difference, social norms, deviance, neurosociology, and religion.

I spend my free time reading and doing research, listening to music, writing, and, perhaps surprisingly, playing poker. I also have extensive experience in political campaigns and student government. Presently I work in insurance claims management.
