This is my brief essay on social power and activism,
focusing on Deaf resistance at Gallaudet University in the 1980s. Ethnic Conflict in Postville
Not long ago, a meat processing plant in Postville, Iowa,
was raided because of alleged immigration violations.
I wrote this essay on ethnic conflict in the town well before the raid took place. Taking Control
Total institutions (like mental hospitals and prisons)
systematically strip their wards of their identities.
